I’m excited to share this month’s mix of classes with you. As always, you’ll find a well-rounded selection that includes gentle, active, and strength/endurance-based practices to support you throughout the month – plus a couple of shorter flows for those times when you just want to squeeze in a quick movement session.
You might notice a little nod to Downward Dog this month! 🐾 One of our active flows is my Down Dog Step Forward Flow, a favorite class that explores the step-forward transition in creative and engaging ways. And our specialty class is a Down Dog Appreciation Practice that’s designed to help you refine and deepen your approach to this iconic pose. These two classes complement each other beautifully – but they’re just part of the broader mix of offerings in this month’s lineup.
A few reminders about our Yoga Class Club:
– You’re always welcome to take any other classes from the greater library that feel right to you. This April selection is designed as a balanced month-long practice, but feel free to mix and match however you'd like.
– You can also substitute any class from the library (or from any other yoga teacher you practice with!) if something I’ve selected doesn’t feel like the best fit. If you’re using the Accountability Checklist (scroll down to find it), you can note any swaps there too.
I hope you enjoy this month’s Yoga Class Club lineup, and I’m so glad to be practicing alongside you!
–Jenni
P.S. I’m always here in our community forum if you have any questions, feedback, or just want to say hi.
Warm-Up Flows: 10-minute yoga/movement snacks
–Take each class 1x/week this month
Creative Hip Mobility Quick Flow
This creative yoga snack features one of my current favorite sequences – I think you’ll know which part of the flow it is when we get there! :) I hope your hips appreciate the attention we give them in this practice.
This yoga snack begins with a light visit to the core, combined with a bit of heart-opening. Then we move into a dynamic lunge flow interspersed with a visit to a prone (face-down) active shoulder mobilization that I think your upper body will love!
Gentle yoga practices – when you want to move, but without a lot of effort
–Take each class once this month (and more if you need it)
Keep It Low Mellow Flow 6 (30 min)
This mellow-but-potent practice begins with some wrist work and then moves into a fun and low flow that covers many bases, but features a little extra attention on the hips. This class will move all of your joints, but with a mellow energetic output. (Yaayyy!)
I know I’m not alone in loving pigeon pose :), and this practice is basically a whole ode to passive pigeon! It’s a great, gentle practice for some down time, introspection, and feeling your hips.
Active yoga practices – we flow and connect to our breath, but the challenge level is moderate
Take each class at least 2x this month
Down Dog Step Forward Flow (40 min)
This is first and foremost a creative and fun flow practice, and I think you’ll enjoy it for that reason alone! But I also wove in extra opportunities to practice the down dog step forward transition – because I find focusing on this move to be empowering and rewarding! (Especially for our hip flexors heh heh!)
I put a lot of thought into designing this sequence that naturally and instinctively leads us up to camel pose (our kneeling backbend in yoga), but in a way that I don’t think anyone could have guessed! I hope you love this creative, whole body flow!
Yoga practitioners benefit a ton from targeting their hamstrings for both strength and flexibility, and in this fun practice, we do both! Pyramid pose and flamingo pose are the refreshing peak poses in this class. And although this class has a hamstrings-focused theme, the sequence itself targets and moves the whole body.
Strong flows (optional)– when we really want to level up the challenge!
Take each class 2x this month if your body wants a more fiery practice
Vigorous Vinyasa Flow 3 (44 min)
This is a fun and energetic flow that weaves us from standing down to seated and back up again several times, and you may end up wondering how I kept all of the different sides and rights and lefts straight while I was teaching this(!), because there are a lot of twists and turns in this class! This class does a great job of moving and targeting the whole body.
This class features just about all of my favorite strong moves we can do with a blanket (or other slide-y object or surface) in a yoga setting! (And yes, in case you were wondering, that means that hamstring bridge slides are included in this class too – cue evil whahaha laugh ;) )
Specialty class (optional)– a yoga class with an extra specific focus
Take this class 1 or more times this month if this specialty focus feels relevant for your body!
Down Dog Appreciation Practice (40 min)
This educational class is all about improving your downward dog practice! Part yoga pose workshop and part flow practice, we get to deconstruct the pieces of down dog and put them together for a new experience in this familiar pose! After that, we flow through a handful of traditional sun salutation A, with a little extra focus on our downward dog practice within the context of a moving flow.
