Hamstrings: Strengthen To Lengthen

Experience your hamstrings in a whole new way by focusing on the "strengthen to lengthen" principle! Research has shown that strengthening your muscles at all of their ranges is an efficient path to increased flexibility (as well as joint health and tissue strength!) Try out this yoga practice which will serve to complement all of the passive hamstring stretching typically done in most traditional yoga classes.

No props are required for this practice, although you’ll likely want something to pad underneath your back knee at one point - this could be a yoga blanket, bolster, or any household equivalent like a blanket or pillow.
