Yoga Class Club: November 2024
Hey Everybody,
Welcome to November in our Yoga Class Club!
I’m excited about this new batch of practices that I’ve put together for us. I hope you enjoy this selection!
A couple of notes: last month (October), I included a gentle yoga class of mine called “Neck TLC Practice” in our Yoga Class Club, but I had the wrong image posted with it and no description (totally my oversight – I apologize!). I feel that this may have been confusing, and many of you may have overlooked this class, so I’m including it again this month (November), because I want to be sure that you see it! It’s a sequence I love, and I’m hopeful that your neck will appreciate it too. 🤗
I also just wanted to point out that we have a new, second practice from exciting special guest Magnus Ringberg in our Yoga Class Club selection this month – whoo hoo! I hope you enjoyed his first class if you took it, and this new class is an innovative, floor-based sequence that should make your hips happy. :)
A few other reminders about our Yoga Class Club:
–Please feel free to branch out from this class “club” and take any other classes from the greater library that you like (of course!). But just know that this November selection represents what I see as a balanced overall month-long practice.
–Also feel free to substitute any other class from the library (or from any other yoga teacher if you also take classes elsewhere, for that matter!) for one of the ones I’ve included in this club if I happen to choose a class this month that isn’t a good fit for your body or your practice. If you’re using the Accountability Checklist (scroll down to find it), you can also fill in your class substitution on there to replace the one I’ve suggested. :)
Enjoy our Yoga Class Club selection for November ‘24, everybody, and see you on the mat!
–Jenni
P.S. Remember that I’m always here in our community forum if you have any comments, questions, or feedback about the “Club”!
Warm-Up Flows: 10-minute yoga/movement snacks
–Take each class 1x/week this month
-
A Bit of Lower Body Fun
This quick practice moves our whole body, but we have an extra focus on the lower body and hips woven in! Say hi to your hip flexors and quads in this creative yoga snack!
-
A Bit of Shoulder & Core
Dive in for a quick trip to shoulder and spine mobility town! This creative flow begins seated and then moves through a sequence that includes bird dog curls, standing active twists, shoulder circles, and more!
Gentle yoga practices – when you want to move, but without a lot of effort
–Take each class once this month (and more if you need it)
-
Mirror Flow: Passive Forward Fold (17 min)
This class consists of a series of passive stretches that are mostly classic yoga forward fold asanas – but with a modern spin! Let’s let passive stretching do for us what it does best: improve our flexibility and downregulate our nervous system!
-
Neck TLC Practice (25 min)
I designed this gentle, focused practice to cultivate a sense of lightness and easefulness in the neck, in addition to improving our body awareness in this area! You’ll move your neck in some new and novel ways while connecting to your overall spine in general. I hope you enjoy this unique, relaxing practice!
Active yoga practices – we flow and connect to our breath, but the challenge level is moderate
Take each class at least 2x this month
-
Make Friends With Your Hamstrings (47 min)
I designed this class to help increase our body awareness and connection to our hamstrings – and to potentially help us increase flexibility in this area (which can often be a stubborn area to change!). We start with a reclined sequence and then move into a more active, standing flow. Personally, my hamstrings are major fans of this sequence, and I hope yours are too!
-
Creative Floor-Based Flow w/ Special Guest (!) Magnus Ringberg! (42 min)
I’m more than excited to share a second class with our new special guest teacher in the library: Magnus Ringberg! 🎉🎉 I’ve been a major fan of Magnus and his yoga/movement teaching and education work for years, and he finally decided to contribute some specially-created classes for our community! This Creative Floor-Based Flow is his second practice for us, and I think you’ll love it!
-
Gomukhasana (Shoulder Opening) Flow (42 min)
This is a whole body flow that really gets everything moving, but we incorporate a great and effective series of active shoulder “openers” all throughout. The theme that’s woven through this active flow is gomukhasana – the yoga arm bind in which one arm reaches up and the other arm reaches down, and we attempt to clasp our hands (or a yoga strap) behind us.
Strong flows (optional)– when we really want to level up the challenge!
Take each class 2x this month if your body wants a more fiery practice
-
Vigorous Vinyasa Flow 8 (49 min)
This might be my favorite class so far in our Vigorous Vinyasa Flow series! This is a general, whole body flow, but there’s a sneaky extra focus on the ankles here. Yes, the ankles! In fact, the day after I recently took this class, my calves were sore! I hope you enjoy this fun and challenging practice if you try it out.
-
All Sun Salutations, All the Time (35 min)
I created this class for those of us who love sun salutations, but who also love movement variety in our yoga practice! This class offers us the feel and flow of whole body sun salutations, but with some unique twists that I think you’ll love.
Specialty class (optional)– a yoga class with an extra specific focus
Take this class 1 or more times this month if this specialty focus feels relevant for your body!
-
Ankle Mobility Quick Practice (22 min)
A focused, potent practice for targeting ankle mobility! We start with a pre-check to get a sense of what our ankle range of motion feels like today, then we move through a potent ankle mobility sequence, and then we re-check our range of motion to see how it feels.
This is a great class to visit multiple times if continued improvements in ankle mobility are a goal of yours!
